The Wheel, the Roads, the Revolution
Description
Follow the trail of the rebels from Baden’s revolution. The journey begins at Lörrach, where Gustav Struve proclaimed the Republic on the 21st of September 1848. The cycle path runs along the Wiese in the direction of Steinen before turning left to climb towards Hägelberg towards the Scheideck Pass. It was in this historic place where Friedrich Hecker’s troops were beaten. The path then descends to Kandern, another important site of the first Baden revolution. Here, there are a few places to take a rest. The path then leads along the old Kandern railway line, forks towards Mappach and continues on level ground towards Fischingen and Binzen. After a short climb, you reach the summit of the Tüllinger Berg, which connects Haltingen with Lörrach.
