Kandern, the Vineyard and the Storks

Description

From Kandern, the former fishing village of Bad Bellingen, now a spa town, can be reached via Riedlingen, Liel and Schliengen through the Rhine plain, overlooked by vineyards. To fully enjoy it, we recommend a stay in the middle of nature at the Balinea thermal baths, nestled in the middle of a magnificent park, a remnant of an old alluvial forest near a side branch of the Rhine. The route continues towards Bamlach. The Rhineland Bath Museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of the spa. From here the path winds through the vineyards past Gupf to the artists' village of Holzen, where you can see many storks in the stork enclosure, dating from 1979, and some nests perched on barns and houses. You’ll return to Kandern, passing through Hammerstein.
