The Upper Ill Valley

Escaping from Alsatian Jura, the Ill bends at Oltingue and flows through a string of villages with beautiful half-timbered houses. This ride follows the course of the river while making a detour to two isolated Mennonite farms, an old Roman road, a medieval refuge lost in the forest and a Recollet monastery transformed into a medical centre, where an outlawed poet is still remembered.
