Around the Canal

The Rhône-Rhine canal follows a sort of median channel, from the Valdieu sill, at an altitude of 350 metres, to Brunstatt, at 250 metres. By following its banks between Wolfersdorf and Illfurth, from lock to lock, you can rediscover the rhythm of the boatmen of the past. The tour also follows the routes of the old Ill and Largue railways, reminders of a time when people used to travel by train in the Sundgau.
